The commitment proposed by the Scola cantorum is to animate the Sunday Mass at 11:30, animate the Masses of particular moments of the parish community, instruct on the fundamental elements of musical notation and singing technique, create moments of sharing between the elements of the Schola to foster knowledge and strengthen human relationships.
Every Thursday evening, at 8:00 pm, we meet to sing, pray and prepare the Sunday Liturgy.
Anyone interested, young and old "aspiring choristers, come and try it for just one evening! You may discover a new way to pray and make friends.
No particular skill is required: only good will and desire to sing to the Lord with joy and humility.
PRAYER OF THE SINGERS
O God, sublime musician, with Your wisdom
holding the whole creation in his hands, like a lyre,
compose a wonderful harmony.
Humanity is a huge choir,
composed of men, children, women, old people, teenagers:
under Your direction, everyone sings according to their ability
and all together constitute one great harmony.
In humanity, I too have a note of my own to sing.
Singing with others, singing my life to others,
valuing others, collaborating with others.
They are, therefore, essentially, inseparably
in relation to others, in the song of praise
that rises towards You, Lord.
I have to learn my note well and then hear myself chorus,
that is, in intimate union with others.
If I don't realize my identity, if I try to overwhelm others
I'll be a discordant note and I'll sing out of chorus.
When I think about all of this, I feel appalled and terrified:
I am afraid that, for my lightness, the harmony of creation
do not resonate in all its fullness.
Help me, Lord, to be that note
that you yourself wanted in the harmony of creation.
Amen.
CHORIST'S PRAYER
O Father, Creator of the universe,
You have placed the sign of your infinite love in everything
and you have given creatures the imprint of your beauty.
Make me a true singer of your love,
let me know how to express with my song
a little of that sublime harmony
that You have placed in all things
and that moves heaven and earth
in that admirable all-embracing agreement.
Make my song always at the service of your praise,
that I never boast of this gift,
who offers my service to the Church without any vanity and pride,
knowing that we are fulfilling a duty of love towards God and the brothers.
Put the new song in my heart
that flows from the heart of the Risen One,
and grant that, animated by your Holy Spirit,
may he praise you and make you praise for your only glory,
living in the liturgical service the anticipation of the heavenly liturgy.
I ask you for Christ our Savior,
cause and model of our song.
Amen.
