Vesvovo

HE Mons. Angelo Spinillo was born in S. Arsenio (SA), in the Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro, on 1 May 1951 to Francesco and Maddalena Coiro.

Baptized in the Parish of Santa Maria Maggiore in S. Arsenio on 20 May 1951, he lived as a boy, with his peers, the journey of religious formation and preparation for the celebration of the sacraments of the Eucharist and Confirmation by participating in activities and catechesis parish. In recent years he attended elementary school at the “Mons. A. Pica ”, headed by the“ Religious of the Sacred Hearts ”.

Subsequently he attended the Middle Schools and the Lyceum at the Salesian Institutes of Frascati and San Gregorio in Catania. The Way, vocational and priesthood formation, which began in the Salesian Congregation, continued in the Capodimonte Seminary in Naples, where he attended the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy, "St. Thomas Aquinas" section, for the entire institutional course. , obtaining the "Baccalaureate in Theology", and subsequently, after the specialization course, the "Licentiate in Prophetic Pastoral Theology". The final thesis of this course of study was then published with the title "Il Vescovo Oronzo Caldarola".

During the years of formation he has the opportunity to participate in the apostolic activities of the Diocese and of the parish of origin, both as an animator of youth activities and as an organizer of the annual "Reviews of sacred music". He was ordained a priest by Bishop Umberto L. Altomare on July 15, 1978. On October 28 of the same year he was appointed Coadjutor Vicar of the Parish of “S. Anna ”in Sala Consilina, where he collaborates with the parish priest Mons. Donato Ippolito until 11 November 1982, when he is called to the parish of“ SS. Annunziata ”, in the same city, as Vicar Bursar.

Since 1 September 1983 he has been appointed parish priest of the parishes of “S. Stefano ”in Sala Consilina and, at the same time, of“ S. Giacomo Apostolo ”in Monte San Giacomo (SA).

From 14 September 1991 he was transferred as parish priest in the two parishes of “S. Maria Maggiore ”and“ San Michele Arcangelo ”in Atena Lucana (SA).

From 1981 to 1997 he lived with the parish priests of the same city in the community of the Canonical House of Sala Consilina (SA). From the beginning of his priestly life he was a teacher of religion at the State High Schools of Sala Consilina (SA), and, since its foundation, teacher of "Dogmatic Theology" at the Diocesan Institute of Religious Sciences "UL Altomare" in Teggiano (SA). During all these years he has also held the position of Assistant in Diocesan Catholic Action, first in the Youth sector, then Youth, and finally as Unitary Assistant.

In the last decade he has been Regional Assistant in the Youth sector of the ACI. At the Diocesan Curia he was in charge of the Youth Ministry and the Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage sector. On 18 March 2000 by SS Giovanni Paolo II he was appointed Bishop of Teggiano-Policastro.

On May 13, 2000 he received the Episcopal Ordination for the imposition of hands of Cardinal Michele Giordano, Metropolitan Archbishop of Naples and President of the Episcopal Conference of Campania, and of the other Most Excellent Archbishops and Bishops who attended. On the same day he was placed in the canonical possession of the Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro and began the ministry.

On 15 January 2011 he was elected bishop of Aversa, succeeding HE Mario Milano. On 22 May 2012 he was elected vice-president of the CEI for the south by the 64th General Assembly.
Since September 2013 he has held the office of apostolic administrator of Caserta after the death of Mons. Pietro Farina.
